Otto und Emma Horn Stiftung in the City museum of Meißen
Coach clocks – also called saddle clocks – were fashionable in the 17th and 18th centuries. The beginning of the development of this high quality clock type dates back to the 16th century. They were used by wealthy travellers in their coaches or on horseback.
This coach clock by J.H.Wagner from Dresden is contained in two exceptionally fine silver cases. The clock shows time and date and strikes the hours – together with an alarm on a bell.
